The fire resulted in an evacuation and closure of the surrounding area. By approximately 2:45 p.m. French time, local emergency responders contained and fully extinguished the fire.
It is with deep regret we share that the fire resulted in the fatality of a contract employee working at the facility. Our thoughts and deepest sympathies go out to the contractor's family, friends and colleagues during this difficult time.
The safety of our employees, contractors, customers and community is of upmost importance to Bluestar Silicones. We are deeply saddened by the loss of a colleague.
An investigation is currently underway. Bluestar Silicones is working closely with authorities to determine the cause of the fire.
