Saint Fons – July 4th 2016 – The Bluestar Silicones production unit in Saint Fons South, in full standstill since the accidental fire that occurred on the 28th of June in a warehouse storing flammable products and left one victim, has restarted this morning after a five-day audit of the entire plant, in full collaboration with the competent authorities.
Thanks to the quick intervention of the fire brigade, the fire had a limited impact on the production units. Only a few cables, cable-racks, and pipes were changed before launching an entire new set of tests.
Once the site was secured, all the Bluestar Silicones employees put a lot of efforts to restart the plant under the supervision of the competent authorities, and in line with all the relevant security regulations.
All the effluents resulting from the fire were collected in the plant's retention areas, planned for this kind of situations and are currently being processed with the appropriate treatment.
While awaiting the results of the investigation, the warehouse has been secured, isolated, and the storing of the flammable products has been organized in a proper storage facility outside the plant.
Once again we wish to send all our thoughts to the family and friends of the victim.
We are very grateful as well for all the support we received from the authorities but also from the industry, customers and of course all of Bluestar Silicones employees that have supported us a lot in facing this accident.
