The Festival of Lights, initiated in 1989, has become a popular international event for the city of Lyon and the surrounding area. It is within this framework that for the first time in its history, Elkem Silicones has decided to support the event by becoming a partner for the 2018 edition. In that capacity, Elkem Silicones can demonstrate its attachment to Lyon and its region and more particularly its confidence in the continued development of its Lyon-based and international activities.
"We cannot aspire to major growth ambitions without solid roots, and Lyon and its chemical corridor are very much home to our silicones business. The festival associates international multicultural artistic openness with a geographical area and a tradition. It promotes values of congregation, sharing, innovation and solidarity, exactly the values Elkem Silicones promotes every day," explains Frederic Jacquin, CEO of Elkem Silicones.
Partner in 2018
Elkem Silicones chose to support the artists Helen Eastwood and Laurent Brun, who propose modular interactive participative light sculptures known as 'Wish Blow'. Each spectator can come up and blow into the microphone to illuminate the bubble sculpture. The longer you blow, the more the light spreads from the closest to the furthest bubbles. For each visitor contribution, the colour and shimmer change to create varied effects.
In addition to this work of art, Elkem Silicones will be projecting at the subway station on Place Bellecour an innovative creative film for the silicones sector, working on material texture and 3D, and reflecting our partnership with Lyon's Festival of Lights.
