Medical Design & Manufacturing (MD&M) West Conference (Booth #2209), February 7-9, at the Anaheim Convention Center.

Bluestar Silicones will promote its expanded Silbione® Biomedical product line for long term implant applications and its new primerless skin adhesive at the Medical Design & Manufacturing (MD&M) West Conference (Booth #2209), February 7-9, at the Anaheim Convention Center.

Silbione® Biomedical long term implant silicones offer outstanding physicals and lot-to-lot consistency, optimizing product design in an easy-to-process formulation, improving cycle time and part quality. The company has extended its > 30 day in the body range to include low consistency elastomers available in 25 to 40 ShA hardness. These materials now are available for drug delivery applications, with access to Bluestar Silicones' Drug Master File on file with the US FDA.

Bluestar's Silbione® Biomedical silicones are produced and packaged in certified and accredited ISO 8 and ISO 7 clean rooms in York, S.C.   In addition, Bluestar Silicones now offers new smaller packaging options for its liquid silicone rubber (LSR) materials in 400 ml cartridges and gallon kits.

The company also announces the launch of a new self-bonding soft skin adhesive for wound, scar, transdermal and wearable device applications.  Silbione® RT Gel 4645 that offers high bond strength to polyurethane files without any primer or surface treatment needed to achieve adhesion, even at low temperatures. This new solution broadens the range of applications to include thermally sensitive substrates and with optimized cure kinetics, enables improvements in productivity and efficiencies for the coaters resulting in decreased overall costs.  This product joins a full range of soft skin adhesives in varying tack levels and viscosities, including high tack Silbione® RT Gel 4642, which enables coaters to achieve improved adhesion levels to the skin at lower coat weights than other materials currently available on the market.
