1. Rehomogenising

Bluesil RTV 500 tends to settle during storage, and must be rehomogenised before use. This should be done directly in the original container, either by hand with a spatula, or mechanically with a stirrer.

2. Mixing of the two components
It is advised to remix both base and catalyst before mixing them together. To 100 parts of RTV 500 add 2-3 parts of Catalyst 60R. The two components are thoroughly mixed either using an electrical or pneumatic mixer on a low speed setting so as to limit the inclusion of air in the mixture as well as temperature rise.

3. Degassing
Be taken to entrap carefully with little air when the catalyst is added, as it would cause bubbles in the finished product. It is therefore advisable to degas the mixture under a vacuum of 30 to 50 mbar in three to five minutes, applying the vacuum twice in the chamber. Degassing is quicker in a container with a high diameter: height ratio.

4. Cross linking
In order to achieve the best possible performance levels; it is preferable to wait for 72 h before using them.

BLUESIL RTV 500 may be stored at temperatures between -20°C / -4°F and 30°C / 86°F for up to 24 months from its date of manufacturing.Please consult the Safety Data Sheet of this product.


Bluesil RTV 500 & Catalyst 60R is a silicone elastomer with two components, crosslinking at room temperature by a polycondensation reaction.
