Surface Preparation:
All surfaces must be dry and clean, free from any dust and grease or anything which may be detrimental to correct adhesion of the sealant.
To degrease wipe with a pad soaked in solvent, such as an alcohol (e.g. Isopropanol) or ketone (e.g. MIBK) then wipe with a clean cloth. Dust should be removed using oil-free compressed air.

Primer :
When required the following primers may be used:
Aluminium (ordinary or anodised)........................ BLUESIL PRIM 10073

For long term immersion, trials are necessary, depending on the quality of the substrate.
On non-porous surfaces apply the primer with a pad or using a lint free cloth: ensure a uniform and thin coat is applied.
On porous surfaces, use a soft haired brush; in the instance of the surface being very absorbent, a second coat could be applied once the first has dried.

Dry- smoothing off of the seal ensures good contact between the sealant and the bonding surfaces. It should be carried out using a spatula before the surface skin is formed.
Areas soiled with fresh sealant may be cleaned with a dry pad or a pad soaked in a solvent (compatible with the substrate) such as trichloroethylene. Any cured sealant can be scraped off (e.g. using a razor blade).

For large aquariums, it is recommended to use spacers made from silicone elastomer of sufficient hardness to wedge the panes of glass against the walls.

The bonding joint can be broken down into two parts:
On one hand, the sealing joint of width identical to the thickness of glass used and of thickness, h, around 1 to 2 mm.
On the other, the structural joint itself, a triangular joint applied to the inner edges, whose thickness, e, depends on the dimensions of the aquarium.
For safety reasons the minimum glass thickness will be 8 mm for the smallest aquariums.

SENSITIVE TO MOISTURE STORAGE +2°C Avoid discharge into drains, water courses or onto the ground. Store in tightly closed original container. Store in a cool, dry place with adequate ventilation. Keep away from incompatible materials, open flames, and high temperatures. Avoid contact with oxidizing agents. Vulcanises at room temperature on contact with moisture in the air. BLUESIL SLT AQUARIUM is a one-component, ready-to-use silicone elastomer intended for sealing and bonding applications.
This sealant cures quickly at room temperature and in the presence of air moisture to give a flexible and strong joint with a high modulus of elasticity.
BLUESIL SLT AQUARIUM offers excellent resistance to climatic ageing.

Its high cure rate and modulus of elasticity enable very cohesive bonded assemblies to be quickly made. Moreover, its exceptional translucency makes it a sealant that is particularly well suited to producing aquariums.
BLUESIL SLT AQUARIUM gives primerless adhesion to glass, ceramics and glazed surfaces. On other materials (metals, wood, plastics, concrete, stone), it is advised to use adhesion primers.
BLUESIL SLT AQUARIUM, once cured, resists to diluted acids and bases, diluted bleach, sea water and salt mist.
