CAF 2534 is usually diluted before use in an aliphatic or aromatic solvent in order to give it a viscosity that is suited for the chosen application technique (brush, airless and air spray, etc.).
We recommend dilution in white spirit (Exxsol D40) or Xylene.
Diluting the product to 60% active ingredient in Exxsol D40 allows for an AFNOR CUP N°6 viscosity of around 35 seconds. The product is then suitable for air gun spray application.
In most cases paint formulators whish to choose the colour of the tie coat. The white coloration of CAF2534 is a good base for a wide colouring choice. CAF2534 accepts the introduction of pigmented silicone based master batches. Contact us for more information.
Foul release paints have to be applied under various environmental conditions with temperatures going from 5 to and relative humidity from 5 to 95°. The low basic drying speed of CAF 2534 allows the formulator to fine tune drying times by controlled addition of polycondensation type catalysts.
There is a wide range of suitable catalysts. Examples are typical tin, zinc or iron based catalysts, but also new special metal free catalysts. Contact us for more information.
When applying CAF 2534 or its formulations by spray, we recommend not to exceed a 50 µm layer thickness. For typical thick 150 µm coatings, we recommend to proceed by 3 consecutive spray applications to limit sagging.
After air drying the polymerised CAF 2534 is ready to take a silicone top-coat insuring perfect interlayer adhesion.
Diluted CAF 2534 or its formulations should be homogenized before use if stored for prolonged periods.
Once in contact with humidity, it is important to use CAF 2534 dilutions rapidly. This is a single-component, air curing product.
|CAF 2534 may be stored at a temperature between 2 °C/ 36 °F and 30 °C/ 86 °F for up to 18 months from its date of manufacturing.||Please consult the Safety Data Sheet of this product.||RoHS|
CAF 2534 is a one component silicone rubber that cures when in contact with air humidity. It is intended for use as a formulation base for the development of tie-coats in the fouling release treatment of boat hulls.
