Curing is the ultimate constructive step in tire production. The curing step is essential as all the value created during compounding and assembly would get lost if defects occur. Tire curing is performed in heating presses, usually equipped with metallic molds to shape the tire's outside during vulcanization. Inflatable rubber bladders shape the inside of the green tires and press them against the metallic mold.

In the final productive step of tire manufacturing, the green tire curing, the rubber made bladder would stick to the inside of the green tire if there was no preventive release layer applied in between. But release is just one requirement. Release agents have also to provide slip to allow the perfect centering of the bladder inside the tire during bladder inflation, allowing for improved tire balance. The air present between tire and bladder must be evacuated efficiently during bladder inflation to avoid trapped air defects on the inner liner. The bladder life should be prolonged to minimize press downtime and reduce required operator workforce. The final tire aspect should be clean, free from residues.
